In a small Australian religious community, Naim and Ryan try to keep their budding romance hidden from prying eyes. Their already complicated daily life… turns into a nightmare when they are forced by their loved ones to participate in a conversion ritual. From this so-called therapy emerges a strange entity, determined to terrorize them. To relentlessly hunt down its victims, this presence takes the form of the person they desire most. For Ryan, that’s Naim. And vice versa. While the entity is at the heart of the fantasy narrative, it is never the film’s true subject. Behind this premise lies another, more systemic form of horror: the reflection of a homophobic society in which two boys must hide their feelings, to the point of ultimately doubting themselves.
A gripping debut feature film where fear takes the form of love.
Starring Tyallah Bullock, Joe Bird, Stacy Clausen, and Mia Wasikowska
