“Our history was disappearing as quickly as we were making it.” It is from this observation that American lesbian activists Deborah Edel and Joan Nestle co-founded The Lesbian Herstory Archive. With determination, humor and a homemade shelf, they have collected and archived what is to date the world's largest collection of lesbian history.
Today, the archive faces many challenges: passing the torch to the younger generation, adapting to new technologies, and helping to reinvent lesbian activism at a time in American history when some of the movement's victories are being questioned. The "Archivettes" tells their story and how they succeeded in fighting against the invisibilisation of lesbians for more than 40 years!
After the film, a meeting with Charline Herbin and Mathilde Messina, whose master's thesis focused on the history of lesbians in Brussels and presentation of the Fonds Suzan Daniel by Bart Hellinck .
