It's summertime in Geneva and Johanna isn't going on vacation. While she's considering getting rid of her old VW Beetle, she decides to bring it back to life to take on the automotive world that rejected her. This high-octane comedy gently navigates issues of trans-identity, lesbianism and masculinity. Brilliant in its sense of the absurd, drifting, and controlled skids, Virages strips apart the mechanics of liberation and oppression. In late capitalism, this breath of fresh air rings like a call to escape. Punk’s not dead.
