Sofia is a 17-year-old athlete who discovers, on the eve of a career-defining volleyball championship, that she is pregnant. She decides not to keep the baby, but, in a country where abortion is forbidden by law, she soon discovers her destiny is not solely in her own hands. Supported by a group of friends with radically different backgrounds and bodies, she gradually overcomes the many obstacles in her path. Levante is a powerful portrait of young, progressive people of colour who are committed to fighting the conservative sectors that want to control women's bodies.
