Synopsis
The production and release of William Friedkin's 1980 film Cruising provoked outrage and protest from some sections of the era's queer community. In Mineshaft: The Cruising Murders, Jeffrey Schwarz investigates both the controversy around Cruising, and the real-life murder which inspired Friedkin to make it. This captivating documentary shines a nuanced light on a complex matter.
