The Genres d’à Côté team is happy to present the visuals for the 23rd edition of Pink Screens Festival – The Brussels Queer Film Festival, an event held in coproduction with Cinéma Nova!
From 31st October to 9th November, we will be casting the magic spell of queer cinema over the town centre, with the help from our loyal partners: NOVA, Aventure, Palace, Galeries, and Beursschouwburg
From fictions to animated films, from documentaries to experimental cinema – over one hundred films from all over the world will be illuminating the movie theatres in town, with stories where the margins take center stage.
But Pink Screens is more than just a festival: it is an ode to queer creativity, a space where films do not simply entertain but also play the important role of questioning, of provoking, and above all, they do not ask permission.
Our full programme will be made available to you very soon!
This year’s visual was created by Lazare Lazarus. The annual Pink exhibition will showcase a selection of his work, alongside pieces from a dozen other artists.
Lazare Lazarus lives in Marseille. He defines himself as “whore and gardener”.
He describes his work as follows: “bodies that open like windows on bouquets of burning scrubland, where limestone boils under Agaves reared high as temples, where cacti fruit bleed in the sun and beat against the shore, where pines stuck in the hollows of precarious scree, give off a scent of cum and resin”.
Lazare imagined wondrous lands filled with emotion, where one may gather memories of our struggling bodies and desires. His piece documents his wanderings in the hinterland and the riverbanks of Marseille and intertwines them with erotica inspired by the archives of “Mémoire des sexualités”, an organisation he has worked for for several years.
His illustration for Pink Screens is an original creation. The layout and typography are the work of a Belgian Graphic Design Studio, Kidnap Your Designer.
